Tryouts for the Junior Maccabi and Mini Maccabi Games have begun! From now through early March, the JCC Metrowest will be holding tryouts for both of these competitions at two locations: their facility in West Orange and Golda Och Academy, also in West Orange.
The Junior Maccabi Games is a one-day event for Jewish boys and girls ages 11-12 as of May 1, 2015, while the Mini Maccabi Games is for Jewish children ages 9-10 as of May 1. On Sunday, May 3, 11- and 12-year-old athletes will travel to the Kaiserman JCC in Wynnewood, PA to compete against other athletes from New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania and New England. On Sunday, May 17, 9- and 10-year-old athletes will travel to the JCC in Rockland to compete against other athletes from the same locations.
MetroWest will participate in the following sports: boys baseball, boys basketball, girls basketball, boys soccer, girls soccer, with boys and girls swimming for Junior Maccabi only.
Volunteer coaches are needed for all teams. There is no preregistration and no fee to try out. Athletes can try out for more than one sport, but will only be accepted to one team. It is necessary to attend all tryouts for a particular sport. The full tryout schedule can be found on the JCC website, http://jccmetrowest.org/sports-recreation/maccabi
