(MGBL) The playoffs began this past week for the MGBL 2022 girls season.
In the second grade division, Cong. Bnai Yeshurun pulled off the upset winning just their second game of the season as they defeated the #1 seed Jedi Knights. They will now face #2 seed Cong. Ahavath Torah, in the finals, who beat Camp Shalom to move on,
In the 3/4 grade division, all the higher seeded teams moved on as Core Home Girls, led by Nicole Pruzansky (15 points) and Gila Gruber (10 points) topped RCCScancer.org. The top seeded RLK Interiors also moved on against Grand & Essex, as Liat Katz led all scorers in the game with 16 points. Around the rest of the division, Treuhaft & Zakarin, LLP beat Glatt Express & Lazy Bean; and Dr. Saul Lejtman-Tenafly Smiles, with strong efforts from Elizabeth Scharf (10 points) and Emily Jacoby (16 points) beat Leap Consulting.
The 5/6 grade division kicked off their weekend with a couple of play-in games on Saturday night. We saw Dream Makers Mortgage Group (8) defeat Nina Eizikovitz-Links @ EXP (9) and Growing Smiles (7) defeat Esther Shayowitz-V&N Realty(10). Then in biggest upset of the weekend, Growing Smiles, led by top scorer, Kira Furer, took down the #2 seeded Chopstix.
Meanwhile, top seed, Ohel Yitzchak, led by Atara Cooper (15 pts) and Orly Hoffer (14 pts) kept their perfect season going against Dream Makers. Despite 14 points from Sheffa Schwartz, the Torah Titans were taken down by Embrace Family Orthodontics and Aliza Neiss who led the division in scoring for the week with 19 points. Daniella Berkowitz, with 10 points scored, helped the Rothenberg Law Firm defeat RCCScancer.org.
The 7/8 grade girls saw their two undefeated teams moving on as The Basketball Team (1) beat The Therapy Gym and #2 seed State Street Smiles beat Smash Promo. The Law Office of Esta Luber, LLC, who started their season 0-4 won their fourth game in a row as they defeated Land Rush Title Agency, LLC. We rounded out the weekend with Nutrition by Bess, and their gold uniforms, taking down CBRE.

The second graders will wait until January 1 to crown their champion.
