Thank you for sharing information about the recent Lefkovits Family Park Mikvah event for the Edison/Highland community—and beyond (“Rebbetzins Share Insights at HP/Edison Mikvah Event” April 29, 2021). Important details were omitted from the news story about this event.
Marla Rottenstreich planned, curated and coordinated this event as a labor of love upon noticing the tremendous level of knowledge available right here in our local community. There was no need to locate a speaker from far away and spend money that could go directly to the mikvah’s overhead when they “could connect with the rebbetzins and tap into the resources we have right here.”
Rottenstreich noted that there are so many incredible women in the community and the rebbetzins represent a variety of diverse ages, hashkafas, backgrounds and professional fields, yet share the common ground of caring for the entire community. Sometimes looking within avails the program providers an array of options that better serve the actual community.
Rottenstreich’s team of volunteers, two to three women from every shul in the community, worked tirelessly to transmit the powerful Torah messages that the rebbetzins had to share and made this our most successful event yet!
