Moriah students and teachers have completed their literature unit about resilience and have finished reading and learning about ways the characters in the books displayed resilient traits when faced with adversity. An assembly took place on Tuesday, in which each class presented what they had learned in an artistic way. Their presentations were so creative and reflected students’ deep understanding on how to face difficult situations by using coping mechanisms such as positive self-talk, optimism, grit, hard work as well as relying on supportive relationships with friends and family. The students shared their personal stories of being resilient similar to the characters in the books they read. knIt’s clear they internalized these important messages and hopefully are well prepared to face the challenges in their lives.
The second round of the certificate of recognition program took place on Rosh Chodesh Kislev. Students in each class received an award or bracelets to celebrate their accomplishments in one of the six expected standards: inclusiveness, respect, grit, teamwork, positivity and kindness.
Fifth graders and kindergarten students continue to enjoy the buddy program which meets once a month!
