Moriah Kindergarten Asks What’s on Your Flag?

As an outgrowth of their conversations about Yom Ha’atzmaut, Moriah’s kindergarten students have been discussing the significance of flags; of the United States, of Israel and of flags in general. They know that flags represent objects or ideas that are important to the flag bearer. The children realize that countries, states, companies, and even schools can have flags. They have been observing flags of many designs and colors. The children were asked: If you designed a flag for yourself, what would be on it? What is important to you, that you’d like to show the world about yourself? The children then designed their own personal flags. Each child took care to create a design that was reflective of their interests, hobbies and values. The children feel pride in their personal flags!
