Moriah Kindergarteners Ask ‘What’s on Your Flag?’

As an outgrowth of conversations about Yom Ha’atzmaut, Moriah kindergarteners have been discussing the significance of flags of the United States, Israel and in general. The children know that flags represent objects or ideas that are important to the flag bearer. They realize that countries, states, companies and even schools can have flags. They have been observing flags of many designs and colors. Teachers tasked the children with designing their own personal flag and asked: What should be on it? What is important to them, that they’d like to show the world about themselves? The children then designed their own personal flags. Each child took care to create a design that was reflective of their interests, hobbies and values. The children felt pride in their personal flags!
