Linking Northern and Central NJ, Bronx, Manhattan, Westchester and CT

This week Moriah students began learning about ways to stay healthy in the winter.  They started off by focusing on germs with a visit from “Sneezy.” She woke up with a cold and kept sneezing everywhere, spreading her germs. She finally learned to use a tissue and to sneeze in her elbow to stop her germs from spreading.

After meeting Sneezy the children learned that even though they can’t see the germs, they need to make sure to wash their hands with soap and water to make the germs go away. The children did an experiment where they filled a plate with water and added sparkles as ‘germs’ they can see. They dipped their finger in the “germ” water and the “germs” stuck to their finger. The children then dipped their finger in soap and then into the “germ” water and watched in amazement as the germs ran away from the soap as soon as it touched the water.
