The Moriah School held their First Annual “Moriah Team Dinner.”  Over 200 students & parents came together to celebrate the partnership of working together on the various Moriah teams, all while raising over $14,000 to help support these programs.

A special presentation was held in memory of Asher Strobel z’l. Englewood native, Strobel was a proud alumnus of Moriah who tragically died on Jan. 6, 2011 at the age of 21. He was a remarkable human being with a heart of gold and team player to the core. A former teammate conveyed a story that showed the caliber of individual that Strobel was.

“One game Asher was calling for the ball and I couldn’t get the pass in to him. I went to apologize to Asher during the next time out, and he told me he was calling for the ball in the high post so he could either hit Daniel cutting to the basket or James who was open in the corner. He called for the ball so he could make another pass! It was another amazing display of unselfishness.”

The guest speaker at the dinner was Joshua Prager, fellow Moriah Alum. Joshua Prager writes for publications including Vanity Fair, The New York Times, and The Wall Street Journal, where he was a senior writer for eight years. George Will has described his work as “exemplary journalistic sleuthing.”

The dinner was an overwhelming success; the monies raised will help fund many of the schools extra-curricular activities
