Moshava Ba’ir MetroWest Opens Its Doors

Moshava Ba’ir MetroWest opened its doors for its inaugural summer last week and hasn’t looked back! MBMW is Bnei Akiva of the U.S. & Canada’s fifth Moshava Ba’ir day camp to serve the community with a fun, ruach-filled and enriching day camp experience. MBMW wasted no time kicking off their first session of the summer with exciting theme days (superhero day!), special peulot (activities) and fun trips. With a tie-dye theme, each camper made and wore their own tie dye shirts as they played sports in the gym and many fields on Kushner’s beautiful campus, enjoying the wide range of peulot from melechet yad (arts & crafts), bishul (cooking) to visiting the on-campus gan chayot (animal center) and more!

During the first session, chanichim (campers) enjoyed fun water activities like playing in the sprinklers and splash pad to keep cool, in addition to the swim program. One of the highlights the chanichim looked forward to each week was the rockin’ oneg Shabbat on Fridays and, of course, daily ruach-filled lunch dance parties! Everyone also had great fun and laughs when Power House came to visit and put on an awesome show, with campers getting hit in the face with pie! The campers also enjoyed rikkud (dance), afiyah (baking) and nagarut (woodworking). Even with all of these busy activities, MBMW made sure the tzevet (staff) were not forgotten. They enjoyed an awesome tzevet night with a bonfire and S’mores, as well as a scavenger hunt at the mall and tailgating with pizza.

The tzevet at MBMW have done an incredible job incorporating Torah and chinuch into each day’s activities and moments. The chanichim were introduced to the theme of the summer of Binyan Yisrael. Throughout the first week, the campers discussed what makes a good leader, and in particular a good king for the Jewish people. There was also an amazing Chinuch Carnival teaching the campers about the different jobs of a king. The campers have learned so much about the Beit Hamikdash through immersive experiences in melechet yad and other experiential peulot.

The second week of camp brought even more fun with a trip for super-hey to SkyZone and a visit from Hatzalah of West Orange, so tha campers could learn all about the amazing work that they do. Chanichim and tzevet are excited to bring the incredible experiences, Torah knowledge and ruach from the past two weeks with them into the next session!
