Moshe Klyman of Englewood wrestled for four years for TABC. Upon graduating he went to Ner Yaakov in Israel for a year before beginning Rutgers University where he started the Rutgers Wrestling Club as an option for shomer Shabbat wrestlers to compete and train. He coached at RTMA in Elizabeth for 11 years before joining the Frisch coaching staff in 2015. In 2013, he tried out for Team USA’s Maccabi National team, but lost in the finals. In 2017, he made the Canadian National Team where he was awarded the bronze medal for Freestyle Wrestling and fourth place for Greco-Roman Wrestling, becoming the first ever Orthodox yeshiva wrestler to compete, let alone medal. He has since pursued his wrestling dreams through competing in tournaments throughout the U.S. and Canada, with over 20 place finishes and a multitude of second and third place finishes. Last week, during Chol Hamoed Pesach, he competed in the US Open National Championships, in the Masters A Division. Through four hard fought matches, he won the highest accolade a yeshiva wrestler has ever accomplished in the United States by becoming a National Finalist and Silver Medalist.

Klyman has been lucky to have the love and support of his wife Renee. His three boys are beginning to follow in his footsteps with the Tribe Youth program. He has the ability to train in his gym, Underground Training in Tenafly, and train at a national level on the mats of the New York Athletic Club. His program, Tribe Wrestling, is designed to unite Jewish wrestlers, regardless of background, and allow them to compete under the authority of Neil Ellman’s Yeshiva Wrestling Association at the NYAC. Tribe’s member list includes wrestlers from all over the country including #8 in the country Don McNeil, representing United States, Lenny Merkin of Princeton University and Nafatli Horowitz, currently wrestling for Israel.

What’s next for Klyman? This summer he plans on participating in the Grand Prix of Wrestling in Madrid, Spain in July where he will continue to wear his Star of David/Team USA singlet with pride.
