Mr. President, Let’s Start With ‘I’m Sorry’

We need to hear an apology not apologists.

In an interview last Monday, President Barack Obama said, “It is entirely legitimate for the American people to be deeply concerned when you’ve got a bunch of violent, vicious zealots who behead people or randomly shoot a bunch of folks in a deli in Paris.”

“Randomly?”

“A bunch of folks?”

Mr. President, this act of terror resulted in the death of four Jews shopping in a kosher deli prior to Shabbat. These weren’t “a bunch of folks” who “randomly” chose this store.

It got worse when White House Press Secretary John Earnest said on Tuesday, “The adverb that the President chose was used to indicate that the individuals who were killed in that terrible incident were killed not because of who they were, but because of where they randomly happened to be.”

Again with the word “randomly.”

When pressed by ABC News reporter Jon Karl about whether he thought the deli was attacked because it was kosher, Earnest replied, “No Jon. Any random deli, Jon.”

It descends deeper. Jen Psaki, the State Department spokeswoman, said that the victims of the deli attack “were not all victims of one background or nationality.”

All four victims were, indeed, Jewish.

It should be noted that both Earnest and Psaki used Twitter to suddenly realize the terror attack was antisemitic. Psaki had the gall to tweet, “We have always been clear that the attack on the kosher grocery store was an antisemitic attack that took the lives of innocent people.”

The only one who hasn’t been heard from….the President.

All we’re asking for is “I’m sorry.”

“Folks,” would appreciate that.

Especially many “random” Jewish folks.
