(Courtesy of MTA) On May 17-18, MTA raised over $1 million through its annual Rabbi Hyman Arbesfeld (’49) z”l Scholarship Campaign Giving Day as a way for the entire MTA community to ensure that the MTA experience is accessible to all talmidim in a respectful and dignified manner. This student-run event enables talmidim to learn first-hand about philanthropy, leadership and the importance of giving back to others.“When we celebrated our yeshiva-wide seudat preidah four years ago as the culmination of our very first scholarship campaign, Rabbi Arbesfeld spoke at the event and described his experience as a scholarship recipient at MTA,” shared head of school Rabbi Joshua Kahn. “He communicated his passion for talmud Torah, as well as the importance of making this opportunity accessible to everyone. His sense of hakarat hatov was remarkable and he genuinely personified the sentiments he shared. It is a truly fitting tribute for our scholarship campaign to bear Rabbi Arbesfeld’s name.” For more than 100 years, MTA has proudly served as pioneers on the forefront of Jewish education, providing talmidim with excellence in talmud Torah, academics and co-curricular activities. Giving each talmid this opportunity to develop as a ben Torah through a holistic and strong yeshiva education is truly a life changing experience. As part of the campaign, grandparents were invited to join the Grandparents Giving Circle, where their gifts went to support the campaign while they will also have the chance to engage with the yeshiva throughout the year. All gifts will be matched 1:1 from now through the yeshiva’s annual seudat preidah and siyum on June 1.
