MTA Students and Rebbeim Enjoy First Teaneck Tisch of the Year

On Friday evening, September 9, Yeshiva University High School for Boys (MTA) hosted its first “Teaneck Tisch” of the year at the home of Eva and Mordy Rothberg, parents of sophomore Yoni. The Tisch is part of a regular series of Friday night community programs that the yeshiva plans to organize regularly in Teaneck and in the wide variety of other communities that MTA students call home. The programming is part of an initiative to further grow the community feel of the school, which draws boys from all over the world.

The Tisch, which was led by Wrubel Beis Midrash Katan Maggid Shiur Rabbi Tanchum Cohen, also featured new Head of School Rabbi Joshua Kahn, Rosh Yeshiva Rabbi Michael Taubes, 9th Grade Dean/Mashgiach and Maggid Shiur Rabbi Eli Cohn, and Ptach Maggid Shiur Rabbi Darren Blackstein, all of whom live nearby in the community. While Rabbi Cohen led, it was the myriad of students who showed up who really set the tone for the incredible night of singing, ruach and Torah.

“The ruach was tremendous. It was really amazing to be absorbed into such a leibedik environment, especially after coming off the high of starting the new school year,” said sophomore Zeve Kornwasser. Hudy Weiss, of Passaic, NJ, who stayed over at a friend’s house, said, “I’m glad I had the opportunity to be here and be a part of this. Great kick off to the school year!”
