Muller and Fans Energize YULA to Win Third Place Game

The YULA Panthers held on 44-43 in a thrilling Tier I third place game against Frisch. Down by 1 with less than a minute to go, David Haboosheh scored the go-ahead basket to give the Panthers a 1-point lead. The Panthers’ defense did the rest, as Frisch’s last second effort rimmed out.

In the first half, Frisch came out shooting well, led by Chesner as they stormed to an early lead. After the first quarter they led 14-7, and maintained a significant lead until midway through the third quarter. Muller’s hot shooting though, propelled YULA’s comeback, and they held on late, to come out on top.

Down by 7 midway through the third quarter, the YULA crowd began to heat up, and with it Panthers star Adam Muller, who converted on three straight 3-pointers to pull YULA to within 1. Muller led the Panther attack, leading all scorers with 23 points on 6 of 11 shooting from deep. Yair Isaacs added another 10, in addition to 5 assists.

Frisch was led by Josh Chesner’s 18 points, including the first 6 points of the game. With Frisch star Andrew Langer not available for the game, Chesner stepped up to fill his place, but quickly cooled off in the second half; Frisch’s efforts fell just short. Josh Dukas, Ben Gerber and JJ Zakheim each contributed 6 points of their own in Frisch’s well distributed scoring.
