My Friends Are Excluding Me!

Editor’s note: Rising fourth grader Shayna is a budding advice columnist! She hopes to help kids navigate the often complicated, occasionally difficult and always exciting childhood and tween years.

Dear Shayna,

I have a friend who keeps ignoring me, going elsewhere to find other friends to play with and excluding me. What should I do?

Sincerely,

Sad Sherry

Dear Sad Sherry,

If your friend is being rude don’t be rude back. Make some new friends. If she doesn’t want to be your friend, just talk to another child, and don’t get discouraged; there is always another friend right around the corner. Just start with a simple hello and then turn it into a conversation. If the next girl wants to be your friend you’ll be sure to have a great time. It may be hard, but I believe that you can do it!
