Naaleh Runs Program on Body Image, Health and Self Esteem

This week, Naaleh students participated in a program about body image in teenagers, emphasizing how body image is not just about one’s physical appearance, but also about how individuals view themselves in their own minds. In an engaging discussion facilitated by school psychologist Dr. Ruth Glasser, the girls considered factors that influence body image and identified ways in which modern cultural influences impact our collective views and perceptions. The program highlighted the importance of focusing on the whole person—including personality traits and talents, and not just physical attributes—when describing one another. Dr. Glasser also explored normal and healthy physical changes that take place during adolescence, and stressed the value of living a healthy and balanced lifestyle. As a practical activity, the girls wrote positive messages to frame the mirror in the school bathroom, serving as a reminder to see and value the positive qualities and features that they possess.
