(Courtesy of NCSY) As hundreds of thousands of Jewish children are out of school due to COVID-19, NCSY, the flagship youth movement of the Orthodox Union is increasing its remote digital..
Here are some of the programs NCSY has created:
Inspirational Flash Mob: Stuck at home and need a burst of inspiration? NCSY has organized virtual flash mobs offering bursts of inspiration from world renowned personalities. The first one took place at 4 p.m. ET today and was led by Rabbi Dr. Akiva Tatz. Teens and families are encouraged to join through our zoom link (https://zoom.us/j/135562899) and we will disseminate the recording as well.
Local programming: Throughout the country, our JSU clubs in public schools as well as our Latte and Learns have moved online. Teens are encouraged to reach out to their local NCSY and JSU staff for local programming. We may be apart, but we are always together.
Educational Website: Looking for activities, games or Torah ideas to share with teens and families? Our world renowned education website offers content on the siddur, weekly parsha, and educational programming and activities.
The NCSY Box: The Box contains three decks of Jewish educational cards that are meant to spark interactive conversations and ideas. Whether at your Shabbat table, family trip or just a get-together, The Box will have everyone talking. Now more than ever, this tool will help individuals and families connect through conversation. If you’re looking for more programming designed around The NCSY Box, check out our new programming guide to help make your conversations come alive.
Spreading Positivity: A small candle of positivity can bring light to much darkness. We are encouraging all NCSY and JSU teens and families to share pictures with one line of inspiration in the hopes that in these challenging times we can make positivity go viral as well. Please share your words with this template as well as our entire spreading positivity.
Bringing Seder to Chaos: Freedom in Quarantine: Beginning today, each day NCSY will be sending out a brief though on the Passover Seder. Each day will come will a Torah idea, multimedia and a prompt for teens and families to share and create their own Haggadah together. Collectively, NCSY will build a Haggadah – one thought a day, one day at a time. See attached for our introduction to the program. Teens across the country are joining this WhatsApp group to continue the conversation and make Pesach more meaningful.
