On Monday night, the second night of Chanukah, Nefesh Yehudi Academy, the Jewish after school program in East Brunswick, resumed its parent coordinated Chanukah party after a two year hiatus due to COVID. Over 100 people came to dance, sing, decorate sufganiyot, partake in various arts and crafts and eat dinner together, enjoying pizza and latkes. The excitement of being back in person and celebrating together was palpable. But the highlight of any event is when the students show off their appreciation of the education they get at Nefesh Yehudi. This year, the adorable kindergarteners led the community in lighting the chanukiah. Their faces lit up the entire room and everyone gathered felt pride in the students. Thank you to the parent committee of Dvora Nissan, Rebecca Peckman and Sara Strum.
