New Weather, New Look: Spring Time Clean Up

As the flowers are starting to bud, and the rays of the sun are breaking through the clouds, it’s time to start thinking about freshening up your overall look. Your hair/wig is one of the first things people notice about you, so when that looks great, you automatically look put together.

Since Pesach is all about new beginnings and fresh starts, the seder is the perfect time to debut your new sheital, or your freshened up one. Now is the time to say goodbye to your dry, split-end winter wigs, and exchange them for a fresh new look.

2024 spring hair is all about the cut, and working it to enhance your natural features. By adding just a few wispy angles, the illusion of a sharp jawline can be created. Hair shape, cut and texture have the ability to counterbalance certain facial features we sometimes feel are either predominant or lacking. The right haircut has the power to alter our entire look to give us that shining boost of confidence.

Short is the new long. Stylists are now reintroducing shorter cuts as a way to help their clients with easy, maintainable styles. With lace tops being made so lightweight and thin, there is nothing more comfortable than a light lace top lob/bob that automatically transforms your everyday look into a chic, modern style. A huge advantage to buying a shorter wig is not having to fuss over the wig hair knotting, along with the lower cost of a shorter piece.

Now is the time you’re probably cleaning out your closets, and finding all your old wigs taking up space. Most sheital wearers, who by now have transitioned to the more comfortable and natural looking lace top wigs, are wondering what they should do with all their old pieces.

Spring 2024 has the answer! Fit for any age, from soft romantic to edgy and chic, bangs are back! Many clients are hesitant to try bangs, especially in a sheital, since they don’t grow back, but don’t be afraid to try something new. Bangs have many advantages, and generally they make a person look younger.

Full front bangs that reach the center of your brow send off younger vibes than a light wispy bang. Bangs are also great at hiding forehead wrinkles and other imperfections. Sweeping bangs off to the side draw attention towards your cheekbones, giving off the illusion of a wider, more youthful face. Mature women should avoid front thick bangs that have a harsh straight line, as they tend to look too severe for their face. Although you don’t want bangs in your eyes, be sure not to make them too short. The shortest strand should be below your eyebrows to allow for an “easy, swept across your forehead” look.

Alternatively, you can convert your older wigs into lightweight hat falls that you can enjoy wearing with baseball hats and bandanas to keep you cool all summer long.

If you are no longer interested in using your old pieces, please consider donating them. We collect year round for a gemach that gives to both women in Israel and the United States. Now more than ever, another woman would be so appreciative to receive your donation.
