Ohr Yisroel’s STEM department resumed its studies after Yom Tov diving back into its first year CIJE course as well Farleigh Dickenson courses in architecture and computer-aided design.
The CIJE class is working on the design process figuring out what works and what doesn’t. The process is driven by asking all the questions about design that no one has ever asked before which naturally leads to addressing community based problems. They are also developing and sharpening their computer coding skills which will tie in to the projects later in the year.
The CAD course is working on designing and building materials. Some students have started in TinkerCAD and are familiarizing themselves with the software by designing and creating something tangible before moving on to larger projects. Ohr Yisroel is pleased to offer this course through FDU for college credit.
Ohr Yisroel is also lucky to have its very own architect, Matthew Schappert, teaching an FDU course in architecture. The students are privileged to be working on hands-on, real life projects while developing their understanding and skills in this specialized area.
