To extend learning which began with last week’s Parshat Noach, RPRY’s early childhood and kindergarten classes were treated to a memorable, (literally) hands-on experience: a petting zoo! The children’s excitement, enthusiasm and curiosity were aroused by the collection of cackling chickens, roosters, rabbits (including one bunny that looked like a lion), a huge goose that kept trying to fly the coop, ducks, a 6-month-old calf, a sheep whose wool was being brushed by the farmer, a goat and a gobble-gobble-ing turkey. The children engaged all their senses (except taste, of course) as they interacted—some timidly and some bravely—with the fascinating animals.
