Powerful Lions Oust Thunderous Storm in First Round Battle

It’s the playoffs! In a first round matchup, the MTA Lions varsity basketball team played against the TABC Storm in the MAX on Thursday, February 23. The bleachers were so filled with both MTA and TABC fans that some people were lined around the court and huddled in huge groups. There were at least 300 people cheering the players on. The beginning of the game was slow at first, with neither team really allowing the other to score. At halftime, the Storm was leading 11-15. That angered the powerful Lions so much that they only allowed TABC to score once in the third period while they managed to put up nine points. At the beginning of the fourth quarter, one of the TABC players blocked and stole the ball, but wasn’t able to convert the steal into points. In the last seven seconds of the game, a TABC double-dribble gave possession back to the Lions. The Lions made sure that they stayed in possession of the ball until the buzzer. The final score was 23-22 in favor of the mighty Lions. The top scorers were Yehuda Colton and Yehuda Buchbinder with six points apiece. Playoffs will continue after Sarachek.
