Segev Kalfon (Segev ben Galit), 27, from Dimona, was abducted by Hamas terrorists while attempting to flee from the Nova music festival on Oct. 7, 2023. He was seen in a Hamas video which was posted that day, being loaded into a van. His family had heard nothing about his condition until recently, when one of the released hostages indicated he had been held captive with Segev for a number of months in Gaza. Kalfon is not on the list of hostages slated for the first phase of releases, but is reportedly slated for release in the second phase of the hostage deal, which is not yet official.
Times of Israel quoted Kalfon’s family as saying, “[The released hostage] didn’t elaborate on [Kalfon’s] condition, but said he was okay.”
Segev loves music and works in his family bakery in Dimona. Recently, he has been studying the stock market and hopes to find a related job.
Segev’s sister-in-law, Rotem, noted, “He suffers from anxiety disorders and is on medication; he has post-traumatic stress disorder from an accident he had at a young age, and he underwent surgery where he had platinum plates inserted into his leg.”
Said his mother, Galit, “Segev, if you’re listening, know that there’s a deal in place, and hostages are coming back. You will return. Stay strong.”
