Prospective Families Enjoy TABC Drive-Through Experience

Add the high school admissions process to the long list of things that are different about 2020. With a moratorium on large gatherings, the traditional Open House season looks a lot different this year, with schools turning to virtual platforms and Zoom interviews. Rabbi Shlomo Adelman, TABC’s Head of School, quickly realized that prospective families would be missing out on something special, though: the personal connection, or more broadly, the warmth of TABC. Thus “A Taste of TABC” was born, an in-person drive-through experience that preceded the virtual Open House. Prospective families were invited to drive through the TABC lot, festively decorated with blue and gold balloons and banners, and pick up a hot breakfast-to-go to enjoy with their viewing of the program. They were greeted by students, faculty and staff in custom TABC smiley face masks and each family was personally welcomed by Rabbi Adelman.

With the TABC band, comprised of both faculty and students, on one corner, and DJ Coby Mandel ‘21 manning turntables near the exit, 1600 Queen Anne Road was pumping with enthusiasm and excitement. Students and parents alike left energized for the second part of the Open House—the virtual program—and the prospect of an unforgettable four years. For any questions about the admissions process, please reach out to P’nina Seplowitz, director of Admissions, at [email protected].
