Rabbi Dr. Edward Reichman, a noted expert in Jewish medical ethics, is this year’s scholar-in-residence at Congregation Shaya Ahavat Torah’s annual Dr. George S. Rotter Shabbaton, December 15-16. Dr. Reichman is a distinguished professor of emergency medicine, education and bioethics at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. A popular lecturer, he holds a unique position in addressing the ethical and moral complexities that arise at the intersection of these two fields.
His talk, “Whose Life Is It, Anyway? An Interactive Case Discussion on Judaism and Medicine,” will follow a 4:15 p.m. service and 5:30 p.m. dinner on Friday, December 15. The program continues Saturday, December 16 with a kiddush lunch and talk at noon, “From Artificial Limbs to Artificial Intelligence: Medical Halakha Update 5784.”
