Rabbi Dr. Meir Soloveichik Addresses Yeshivat Frisch

Yeshivat Frisch was thrilled to welcome Rabbi Dr. Meir Soloveichik last week for the Rabbi Shlomo Weinberger z”l Memorial Lecture. Rabbi Soloveichik, who serves as rabbi of Shearith Israel in New York City and director of YU’s Zahava and Moshael Straus Center for Torah and Western Thought, delivered a fascinating shiur about Exodus imagery, its enduring relevance and its prominence in the thought of America’s founding fathers. Rabbi Soloveichik also spoke about the miracle of Jewish survival from Shemot until today, weaving in sources from Tanach, Gemara, American history archives and even an edition of Shas printed by the United States Armed Forces right after World War II so Jewish survivors in the DP Camps could fulfill their heartfelt desire to keep learning. He brought in an original volume from that edition of Shas, which students were able to look at after the talk.

In his introduction to the shiur, Rabbi Yosef Weinberger spoke about Rabbi Shlomo Weinberger, his grandfather, a renowned teacher and giant in Torah who was the beloved rabbi of Congregation Tifereth Yisrael in Passaic. Thank you to the extended Weinberger family for allowing Yeshivat Frisch to honor the memory of Rabbi Shlomo Weinberger z”l through such meaningful and timely Torah study.
