On Wednesday, July 12, after the 7:30 p.m. Mincha at the Young Israel of Fort Lee, Rabbi Hayyim Angel will give the first of three shiurim about Sefer Bereishit. The shiurim will use both traditional and academic analytical tactics to elucidate the stories of the Tower of Bavel (July 12), the Flood (July 19) and Yaakov’s deception of his father Yitzchak (July 26).
Rabbi Angel earned his M.A. in Bible from the Bernard Revel Graduate School, his M.S. in Jewish education from the Azrieli Graduate School of Jewish Education and his rabbinical ordination from the Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Theological Seminary. He is currently the national scholar of the Institute for Jewish Ideas and Ideals. He teaches Tanach at Yeshiva University and has written many books and over 100 articles on his innovative approach to Tanach.
