The Ramaz Upper School annual Celebration of the Arts is one of the most anticipated events on the Ramaz calendar. It’s a special opportunity to showcase the tremendous talent of the upper school students across a wide variety of artistic mediums. For weeks prior to the event, art department faculty hung the paintings, drawings and even fashion design creations of students around the upper school. At the Celebration of the Arts, the students behind these beautiful and thought-provoking works welcomed their families to view all their pieces on display. Parents and siblings, as well as friends, got to watch as these artists explained their sources of inspiration as well as their creative processes.
After this reception, attention turned to other artistic efforts, including poets, singers and musicians. The audience watched as students read their original poetry from their annual arts magazine Parallax, and as they played music, both solo and in ensembles. Students performed everything from Led Zeppelin and folk covers to poetic reflections about adolescence and growing up.
