Ramaz’s ninth grade class walked over for a quick visit to Sotheby’s to see the world’s oldest Tanakh this week. The Codex Sassoon was written in the 10th century, and the students learned about the process of writing it, its history, as well as the development of Tanakh from scrolls to the Tanakhim we use today. This treasure goes up for auction later this week, and is anticipated to be the highest valued manuscript ever at auction.
