Rav Yosef Zvi Rimon Appointed Rabbinic Head of Jerusalem College of Technology

(JERUSALEM) Jerusalem College of Technology announced last week that Rav Yosef Zvi Rimon has been appointed the institution’s Rabbinic Head as well as the Head of its Batei Midrash. The appointment will officially take effect on August 16, the 1st of Elul.

Rav Rimon is world renowned as a prolific author of Halachic works that reflect his unique approach, taking the reader from the source text to the practical application of Halacha. Rav Rimon is the founder and chairman of the Halacha Education Center, which develops innovative educational curricula for Jewish studies by utilizing state-of-the-art, cutting-edge technologies. The Halacha Education Center will be moving its activities to JCT’s Lev Campus.

“I am very pleased with my appointment to this important position, and I view it as a special opportunity to enhance the study of Torah and Jewish law. Teaching in the Batei Midrash of the Jerusalem College of Technology is a unique and challenging task, and it is a great privilege to teach alongside the institution’s teachers and rabbis, whom I greatly respect and admire,” said Rav Rimon. “I am also confident that the activities of the Halacha Education Center will be greatly enhanced through the cooperation with the Jerusalem College of Technology.”

Rav Rimon is also the founder and chairman of JobKatif, an organization that helps evacuees of the disengagement from Gush Katif find gainful employment, serves as community rabbi of Alon Shvut South in Gush Etzion and teaches at Yeshivat Har Etzion and Migdal Oz Girls Seminary.

“The advent of a new rabbinic head for JCT’s Batei Midrash is very significant, and we are honored to have Rav Rimon join us. As a leading institution that supports the integration of Torah life with academic advancement, it is eminently important for us that our Torah education is taught at the highest level,” noted Prof. Chaim Sukenik, President of the Jerusalem College of Technology. “To that end, we are very impressed with Rav Rimon’s activities and his educational capabilities, and we are excited that the Halacha Education Center will become part of the Lev Campus. This partnership will produce a synergy that will greatly intensify the activity of Torah and Halacha both within the Halacha Education Center and the Jerusalem College of Technology.”
