Readings for First-Ever “Jewish” Playwrights Contest

NYC—To honor its centennial, The National Yiddish Theatre-Folksbiene is presenting an all-star Blue Ribbon panel of Award-winning Broadway producers, directors, composers, and playwrights, including Manny Azenberg, Jeff Baron, Jason Robert Brown, Jon Marans, Mandy Hacket and Israel Horovitz, who will judge table readings of five finalists in the David and Clare Rosen Memorial Play Contest. The NYTF, the oldest professional Yiddish theatre in the world and the longest consecutively-producing Jewish Arts organization, established the contest to demonstrate that Yiddish theater and culture continues to thrive and flourish around the world. The readings will take place from 2-5 p.m. at Manhattan Theatre Club Studios, 311 West 43rd St. 8th floor, Studio #1. The winning play will be professionally presented at the NYTF’s highly-anticipated Centennial Celebration Festival, KulturfestNYC (June 14-22, 2015).
