Reme Halo Indoor Air Purification Rids Homes of Viruses, Germs and Allergens

We’re all spending a lot of time indoors now, “social distancing” to halt the spread of COVID-19. While there is still no cure, a new air-purifying technology that removes other viruses, as well as allergens and bacteria, may help keep it out of your home. In tests, the Reme Halo Whole Home In-Duct Air Purifier, installed to work in heating and air conditioning systems, has been shown to be effective in removing flu, MRSA, salmonella, staph, strep and Listeria, and is an effective way to rid homes of smoke, ozone, formaldehyde, pet odors, mold and yeast. And with all this time spent indoors, air quality is more important than ever.

Jacob Finkel learned about the Reme Halo indoor air-purification system in his work as an HVAC specialist. Finkel, who grew up in Teaneck and resides there with his wife and baby, has been working in the field for four years, servicing heating and air conditioning systems. He recently started his own company, Jacob’s Ladder, and has been constantly reading up on the best technology and methods to keep systems in peak shape for homeowners. After learning about Reme, he has become a one-stop address for people who want to buy the technology and have it installed.

“This system purifies the air and sanitizes surfaces, even clothing,” said Finkel. “It’s being used in hospitals, schools, military bases and now on cruise ships.”

The Halo system uses patented ionization technology installed to work with central air conditioning and heating, or as a plug-in unit. Central systems cover the entire house, up to 9,500 square feet. For larger homes, a different configuration can be installed, such as two smaller systems. Plug-in units cover about 900 square feet. In a two-level home, Finkel recommends installing one upstairs and one downstairs unit. He suggests leaving doors open when people are home, as the fan blows the purifying and disinfecting agents into the house. An additional benefit of Reme air purification is the cleansing of duct work in central systems. There is some concern that COVID-19 can be spread through air conditioning, after traces were found in air vents of rooms where three COVID-19 patients were treated in a Singapore hospital.

Jacob’s Ladder is growing as friends and neighbors are happy to finally find someone they can trust to maintain their heating and air conditioning systems, and they recommend the company to others. “I’m shomer Shabbos, part of the Teaneck community and honest,” Finkel said. “For emergencies, I will come the day you call. For less urgent problems, I will try to come that day, and if I can’t, I will be there the next day. I work on Sundays and make night calls, with no additional fees up to 10:00 p.m.” Jacob’s Ladder charges $1,000 for one Reme unit and installation, with a discount for multiple units.
