There was excitement and energy filling the hallways of RKYHS as the students participated in the Kushner Cup over Chanukah. Competing in two teams, Latke and Sufganiya, students were involved in a variety of skills, challenges and competitions as they vied to be crowned the victor. Throughout the day and a half, the teams were involved in activities that include The Great RAE-ce apache relay, Gaga, chess tournaments, school-wide musical chairs, a Chanukah edition of Chopped, basketball and so much more. The competition culminated in the grand finale where artistic and creative talents were displayed with student-created team videos, faculty portraits, banners, memes, Tiktoks, team dance and lip synch and more.

Other Chanukah fun at RKYHS included a Chanukah mania competition between the grades, an illusionist show with the amazing magic of Eric Wilzig, a Deal or no Deal game show, tons of Chanukah food treats and more. The seniors in the RKYHS class of 2024 joined together for Chanukah mesibot at the homes of their teachers on the seventh night of Chanukah. Divrei Torah, delicious food and games were enjoyed by all.

On the sixth day of Chanukah, RKYHS students participated in a Chanukah yom iyun with the Judaic Studies faculty. Topics ranged from learning the complex halachot regarding lighting the menorah, to discussing the internal conflict the Maccabees felt, to a look at the miracles of Chanukah, a study of Yehudit and much more.
