The first few days of Chanukah at RKYHS added joy to the chag with a variety of engaging activities. Each grade took time to add a festive feel to their hallways with a grade hallway decorating competition. With themes like Block Blast and Under the Sea, the unifying decorations were a great way to kick off the holiday. A special Chanukah Let’s Make a Deal school competition took place in the Epstein Stein Auditorium as students competed in Chanukah trivia and Chanukah-themed challenges to win fun prizes.
The RKYHS choir brought joy and light to the residents of Daughters of Israel on the first day of Chanukah. They sang songs to entertain the residents on Chanukah.
RKYHS students set out during Chanukah to their teacher’s homes. Boys and girls went by grade to the homes of their rebbeim and morot for time together outside of school to enjoy good food, singing, games and menorah lighting.
The first week of Chanukah concluded with a separate tish for the boys (complete with latkes) and girls, who added a Kahoot, fun Maccabim vs. Yevanim version of Coke and Pepsi, latkes and fun!
