On a picture-perfect day, the students, faculty and administration of the Rae Kushner Yeshiva High school boarded buses and drove to the Poconos for the annual Tiyul Biet Sifri. This year, the RKYHS community enjoyed all of the great facilities of the 350 acre Pocono Valley Resort. All four grades, faculty, and administration came together for an amazing day of new friendships, bonding and community-building.
Students went out on the water on paddle boats, row boats and canoes. Teachers and students played inflatable bubble soccer, mini-golf, tennis, ultimate Frisbee and more. Teachers and students zip lined over Lake Akiba and challenged themselves on intricate rope courses set in beautiful woods twenty and thirty feet above ground. After enjoying all of these exciting and engaging activities the community enjoyed a beautiful barbecue served up by Rabbi Rubin and administration. After the delicious barbecue, and in the glow of a beautiful sunset, everyone enjoyed a ruach-filled campfire and kumsitz as Students Activities Director Mr. Hal Levy and members of the faculty led the school in spirited rounds of singing and dancing.
Before Mincha, Rabbi Rubin addressed the school. Using the ropes course as a metaphor, Rabbi Rubin spoke about the importance students embracing challenge, building connections together and taking advantage of all of the meaningful opportunities that RKYHS presents. Students and faculty then davened Mincha and boarded the buses after a very full and fulfilling day.
