How do we establish a culture of God awareness in schools? How do we ensure that the Torah students learn not only impacts their understanding of Judaism but also deepens their spiritual connection with God? These are questions that are addressed in the educational philosophy of Lifnai V’Lifnim. RKYHS teachers of RKYHS Yahadut classes have been undergoing training in this philosophy since last year, and they spent last Tuesday immersed in its practices.

Developed by Rav Dov Zinger, Rosh Yeshiva of Yeshivat Makor Chaim in Israel, Lifnai V’lifnim believes that achieving these goals requires a more holistic view of the faculty and student experience in schools. RKYHS has specifically implemented many of its core principles and practices in the weekly hadracha period for juniors and seniors, and it also permeates much of the Judaic teachers’ approaches to their classrooms. RKYHS is now one of four schools in the United States working with Rav Zinger and his team to help enrich and deepen students’ experience as a community of learners.
