The RKYHS freshman class went to NYC to visit the Anne Frank House exhibit. The Anne Frank House exhibit is a full-scale recreation of the Annex where Anne Frank, her parents and sister, and four other Jews spent two years hiding to evade Nazi capture. Students had the opportunity to learn about Anne Frank, through the multifaceted lens of her life—as a girl, a writer, and a symbol of resilience and strength, while experiencing the space she was hidden, along with 100 original collection items from the Anne Frank House in Amsterdam. After the exhibit students met in groups to process their experience. The RKYHS English and history departments prepared the students for the trip and the trip took place in conjunction with the introduction of a new unit on antisemitism being piloted by the RKYHS history department this year.
