This past Monday the Orthodox Union was graced by the presence of the Rosh Hayeshiva of Yeshivas Mir Yerushalayim, Rav Laizer Yudel (Eliezer Yehuda) Finkel shlit”a. Rav Finkel is the son of the late Rav Nosson Tzvi Finkel zt”l who led the Yeshiva for over 20 years until his passing in 2011. Rav Nosson Tzvi had visited the OU in the past as well. The Mir is the largest yeshiva in the world with over 9,000 talmidim.
Rav Finkel toured the new OU headquarters which have recently relocated to 40 Rector Street in downtown Manhattan. He then had a chance to speak to the staff of OU Kosher, the largest Kashrus supervising agency in the world. After being introduced by OU Kosher CEO Rabbi Menachem Genack and OU Kosher COO Rabbi Moshe Elefant, Rav Finkel applauded the efforts of the Rabbinic Coordinators and the entire staff of OU Kosher (many of whom are alumni of the Mir), thanking them for enabling millions of people throughout the world to eat kosher. Rabbi Genack and Rabbi Elefant introduced Rav Finkel to the Rabbinic Coordinators detailing the responsibilities and expertises they each have in the world of Kashrus.
