RPRY Begins 75th School Year

This year marks RPRY’s 75th anniversary! Seventy-five years ago, Rabbi Pesach Raymon Yeshiva (or as it was then called, Moriah) was an innovative and visionary enterprise. RPRY continues to honor this legacy by utilizing best practices to be at the vanguard of quality yeshiva education. For example, this year RPRY, a long-time STEM education leader, launched Bring Science Alive!, a Next Generation Science Standards TCI program, the first yeshiva in the nation to do so. RPRY is so proud of the yeshiva’s legacy of providing a Jewish education to the children of central New Jersey.

Befitting this milestone for the yeshiva, the school’s theme this year is mesorah—tradition. To make it come to life, the students did an activity where the seventh and eighth grade students learned from a source sheet about shofar (for Elul), which they then taught to the sixth and fifth grade students, who then taught it to the third and fourth grade students, etc. At the end, the first and second grade students shared what they learned with the whole assembly.

Teaching Torah and mitzvot, love of Hashem and of Israel is a continuation of our tradition from Har Sinai. In addition to the mesorah that is the heritage of all of Bnei Yisrael, they also have an RPRY Mesorah, a particular set of values and culture, a 75 year tradition started by Rabbi Raymon and other leaders in the community. An RPRY education fuses Torah learning with strong general studies and emphasizes midot so that students are models of good character both within our community and out in the broader world.
