The fourth and fifth grade girls invited their mothers, grandmothers and other important women in their families to RPRY’s inaugural Dor L’Dor breakfast. The girls created colorful place cards for their seats and invited their relatives to the elegantly set tables.
They are beginning to think at a young age about the deep connections we have with those who have come before us and who set a foundation for a strong future. The strength of the Jewish people and the secret of Jewish continuity is often found with the women of klal Yisrael, and their commitment to Jewish education.
The program opened with divrei chizuk and bracha from Rabbi Ribalt and Rabbi Feit. The girls then shared a poignant song about the human longing to connect to Hashem, followed by their own original dance to a popular Jewish song with a similar theme. The conduit for connection to Hashem is the girls’ deep relationships with their foremothers, and therefore it is important to focus on one’s roots. The program continued with a collaborative learning activity led by Mrs. Luchins, where each family studied Torah sources that use trees as metaphors for Torah and Tzadikim. The program concluded with a beautiful project, as the girls and their families decorated vases by gluing trees and other growth-related imagery onto them to take home. All of the adults were able to take home keychains with pictures of their daughter, granddaughter or niece that had been hanging on the beautiful tree centerpieces.
