RPRY Students Participate in Names, Not Numbers©

RPRY eighth graders have had the opportunity this week to learn about the Holocaust through a unique and memorable program called Names, Not Numbers©.

Names, Not Numbers© is a copyrighted, oral history, film project, created by Tova Fish-Rosenberg. The Names, Not Numbers© project transforms traditional history lessons into an interactive program where students are filmed as they interview, and themselves film, selected Holocaust survivors. Preparation for the students includes learning about the participating survivors, training in interviewing skills with a professional journalist and learning about filming and film editing.

The students have been getting to know the survivors’ stories, and they prepared their questions. They are now ready to begin the exciting experience of meeting and interviewing the survivors. The entire process is being filmed by a professional film crew. Mrs. Penny Kaplan is the Names, Not Numbers© coordinator. Morah Nitza Adler and Morah Chanie Grunwald are supervising the groups throughout the program.

SAVE THE DATE! June 16 will be the community screening of Names, Not Numbers: A Movie in the Making©.
