RWJBarnabas Health Nationally Recognized For Quality Specialty Care

RWJBarnabas Health facilities rank among the top 5% of hospitals in the nation.

(Courtesy of RWJBarnabas Health) RWJBarnabas Health received 32 awards and recognitions from the Healthgrades 2023 Specialty Excellence Awards for superior clinical performance in numerous specialty care areas, including cardiac, critical care and surgical care.

Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center was named one of Healthgrades America’s 100 Best Hospitals for Pulmonary Care™ for two consecutive years—the only hospital in New Jersey to receive this recognition two years. It was also named one of Healthgrades America’s 100 Best Hospitals for Cardiac Care ™ for seven years in a row, one of Healthgrades America’s 100 Best Hospitals for Gastrointestinal Care™ in 2023, and one of Healthgrades America’s 100 Best Hospitals for Gastrointestinal Surgery™ for three consecutive years.

Additionally, Community Medical Center, Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center and Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital were recognized among the top 5 % of hospitals in the nation across multiple areas, including bariatrics, cardiac, pulmonary, gastrointestinal, critical care, and surgical care. Community Medical Center is the only hospital in New Jersey to earn a Surgical Care Excellence Award in 2023. Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Somerset was recognized among the top 10 % of hospitals in the nation in cardiac and gastrointestinal care.

To determine the national leaders in various specialty care areas for 2023, Healthgrades evaluated patient mortality and complication rates at nearly 4,500 hospitals. To help consumers find the best care for their needs, Healthgrades uses star ratings and awards to identify the top-performing hospitals for specialty care.
