In commemoration of Yom HaShoah, RYNJ middle school students gathered in the Mandel Family Beis Medrash as students from each grade presented, “Their Memory Still Burning.” As the students entered the dark shul with acapella, “Vehi Sheamda” playing, they were met with a somber sight of six candles burning and red stage lights highlighting the student presenters who would share the life stories and survival of child Holocaust survivors. Zachor, remember, was dramatically repeated in unison between presenters, and with pictures and messages displayed on the screen, the rapt audience was moved and inspired. After a follow up story of resilience and unwavering commitment to our values and hope, the message of taking strength from the unyielding spirit of our family who will never be forgotten was passionately shared.
