RYNJ Hockey Report

The RYNJ Jaguars are enjoying a rejuvenated hockey season- their most successful season in several years. The have completed the regular season with a record of 7-3 with wins over Yavneh, Hillel, RPRY, Ashar, Ramaz, Kushner, and JEC. They are coached by Steve Shaeffer and Dov Elefant. The captains are Efraim Tiger and Gabe Isaacs and the assistant captains are Daniel Landa and Elli Spinowitz.

Much of their success is built on the strong goaltending tandem of Yoel Jacobson and Isaac Markovitz. They have strong depth at the forward position with many talented 7th graders complimenting their 8th grade captains. They have strong scoring from Efraim Tiger, Gabe Isaacs, Avraham Gellman, and Eli Schiff.

Their most recent game was a 7-1 win at home against RPRY. In front of an enthusiastic home crowd, the Jaguars jumped out to a 3-1 lead early in the second period on goals by Efraim Tiger, Gabe Isaacs, and Avraham Gellman. From that point on, RYNJ controlled the game and cruised to the 7-1 victory.

RYNJ has hard-fought losses to the three teams ahead of them in the standings: Moriah, SAR, and Noam and looks forward to avenging these defeats in the playoffs which will follow winter break. The Jaguars will be in the playoffs for the first time in a long time and are looking forward to a deep playoff run.
