RYNJ fourth graders completed their unit on the water cycle and are set to begin studying plants in science. During STEAM they bridged the two units with a terrarium project. Students created water cycle posters using Google drawings and researched and planned their own tiny garden in a bottle. Students learned why each material (pebbles, activated charcoal, moss, soil, seeds and water) is used to build a terrarium and its purpose. After observing the water cycle that occurred in each bottle and entering the days of growth over several days, they got to bring their terrariums home!
