To commemorate the yahrzeit of Rachel Imeinu, which was 11 Cheshvan, RYNJ students in grades one through five participated in a Hilullah. Music Director Morah Sorah Shaffren, told a story about the power of tefillah at Kever Rachel. A video showed the road to Beit Lechem, the changes Kever Rachel has gone through over the years and the inside of Kever Rachel today. The girls joined together for a moving kumzitz, singing Mama Rachel, led by 5G, which brought the morot to tears. The students sang the chorus in Yiddish and in Hebrew. Since our own mothers are our living inspiration, just as Mama Rachel is, the girls then sang “My Dear Ima,” led by 2G and “Shabbos Queen.” The girls danced and sang with heartzige energy and the achdut of the lower school girls was felt as they all joined together for this special event.
