As part of RYNJ’s Community of Kindness program, this month’s theme is “paying it forward.” That means doing something kind for someone else who hasn’t done anything for you as a way of spreading kindness around. RYNJ students participated in stimulating assemblies where they were inspired to pay it forward to their classmates and to students in other classes and grades. They then received pay-it-forward cards that each featured a different small act of kindness. When students performed those kindnesses for someone else, they handed that person the card so they could continue to pay it forward and pass that act along. Students could see how far each act of kindness reached through checkboxes on the back of each card: the more checks, the farther the kindness had spread. RYNJ students and teachers are already looking forward to next month’s Community of Kindness challenge.
