RYNJ Students Receive a Navi

RYNJ third grade students received their first Navi this week—Sefer Yehoshua. Rabbi Wachtel, the lower school Judaic Studies principal made sure it was a special and memorable morning. Students gathered in the Beit Midrash where Rabbi Price began the program with a dvar Torah, explaining to young students how the messages of the Nevi’im are applicable today and for all future generations. Rabbi Price called up each student and Rabbi Wachtel presented them with their brand new Navi. Afterwards, they watched a very informative and interesting multi media presentation prepared by Rabbi Wachtel about all three sifrei Tanach. Rabbi Wachtel showed the students a sample of a klaf of Torah (Sefer Torah), a klaf of Sefer Yehoshua (Nevi’im), and a klaf of Megillat Esther (Ketuvim). The RYNJ students were mesmerized by the chance to see up close all three sifrei Tanach written on a klaf. The students decorated a personalized bookmark highlighting the theme of mesorah for their new Nevi’im. The morning ended with a delicious treat to demonstrate that learning Torah is always sweet.
