SAR HS Holds Sports Banquet

In honor of another all-around successful year for Sting Nation, all members of SAR athletic teams were invited to close out the year with a bang at a marvelous end of the year banquet. On the eve of May 30, 250 students and coaches from 25 different sports teams gathered to celebrate all the hard work and achievements during the 2017-18 school year, both on and off the court.

Walking into the event, the students barely recognized the hockey rink that was fully transformed into a decadent banquet hall, complete with decorations and table settings in SAR’s iconic black and yellow. Students dressed up in formal attire and enjoyed an evening of fun, friends and food. Presentations kicked off with a Dvar Torah delivered by senior Sara Morris, followed by an action-packed highlight video, compiled by Josh Lewis, and a player awards ceremony. The event culminated with a heartfelt tribute to departing athletic director, Marty Berlin, who is retiring after 14 incredible years at SAR. Mr. B was greeted with a standing ovation by all of his adoring students who displayed the utmost respect for their longtime educator. Overcome with emotion, he shared some moving words about his time with SAR and his appreciation of everyone he had the privilege of interacting with during his tenure.

The event ended in high spirits as students congratulated each other, reflected on the past year and discussed aspirations for future seasons. SAR faculty, students and fans would like to commend the members of all teams for their accomplishments, as well as the exemplary midot displayed throughout the season. Best of luck to the graduating seniors, and here’s to many more great years of Sting Sports!?
