Yavneh Academy students in grades three to five participated in Yavneh’s annual Lag B’Omer Maccabiah, representing countries from all over the world. The day began with a lot of energy and excitement as Rabbi Knapp lit the traditional Lag B’Omer bonfire during the opening ceremonies. During the remainder of the day, athletes participated in a day filled with sports, creativity and chesed. The teams were shuttled to Petruska Park to compete for their country in soccer, basketball and track. Athletes decorated their “locker” room door in their country colors and fun facts about the country. They created music videos highlighting their country’s culture. Finally, the athletes took the time to think about less fortunate children and created blankets for children in hospitals. The day concluded with closing ceremonies and the medal winners were announced! Congratulations to the medal winners who will forever have their names on the Yavneh Lag B’Omer Maccabiah Banners: Gold-Norway; Silver-Argentina; Bronze-Greece!
